GGG is gearing up for another Chorus/Line/Cabaret and we need you to be a part of it! If you love music theatre then you’re the folks for us! The time commitment is very minimal – only four Monday evenings, one Sunday and one Cabaret!

We are thrilled to celebrate the wonderful music of William Finn this time around. Finn is probably the most autobiographical of all music theatre writers and his work often deals with relationships, family and parents. Along with a handful of songs from his lesser known shows, we will be assembling casts for mini suites featuring material from March of the Falsettos (1981) which dealt with gay parents before the phrase had entered pop culture, Falsettoland (1990) the first musical to deal with AIDS and give us insight into the modern meaning of family, A New Brain (1998) largely written while Finn himself was in hospital and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (2005).

f you’d like to be involved, please email us by January 29 for more info.

Email brad@gggarts.org to confirm.

Broaden your pallet for a genre so frequently pigeon holed and stereotyped.

Chorus/Line is a unique study of ensemble numbers from musical theatre. Begin by coming in and learning the chorus number – there is a new one every week. Practice your part singing skills, relax and enjoy singing with a group, meet new singers and connect to the chorus and the lines. Stay for a drink, sing that number you always wanted to be in, or try out for a private coaching on the theme. The Chorus/Line is an opportunity to discuss, examine, experience and perform musical theatre.

On the 4th Monday, we open the Lobby of the Belfry to celebrate with everyone, sing our numbers, and share our passion for music theatre. Throw in some prizes, drinks, a piano and some lights, a few singalongs, some party pieces and diva tag – sound like fun?

The Chorus/Line Cabaret is a chance to expose both performers and fans to a full spectrum of musical theatre material, create a new community bringing together aspiring, local and visiting artists, singers, actors and musicians who all love musical theatre, and to educate and develop Victoria’s musical theatre fans.

Join the chorus/line. Mondays – 8pm at the Belfry Arts Centre, 1291 Gladstone Ave.

May 23 | May 30 | June 6 | Cabaret June 13
