Welcome to the chorus|line|cabaret

In here… life is beautiful

A Musical Theatre Party – With the increasing popularity of musicals, and countering the notable lack of venues to sing & see varied musical theatre, GGG’s chorus|line is a chance to expose both performers and fans to a full spectrum of musical theatre, and bring together local artists, singers, actors and musicians, broaden the public palette for musical theatre,  and to develop Victoria’s musical theatre community.

For several Sundays and Mondays leading up to a cabaret, the chorus|line company meets and studies larger ensemble works, mini vignettes and production numbers themed around a particular composer and curated by Brad L’Ecuyer and Gotta Getta Gimmick. GGG brings in professional coaches, and industry leaders to help shape the pieces, and develop the individual craft and process of the participants.  This “musical theatre gym” is free to join, open to all – space is limited, so sign up for an audition.

The chorus|line is a group that discusses, examines, experiences and performs musical theatre. chorus|line is an in depth study of ensemble numbers, providing meaningful analysis of musical theatre’s themes and styles, composers and characters, and a great chance to work on part singing skills. Sing that number you’ve always wanted to be in, and experience the joy of singing with a group.

Act 2 of the cabaret kicks the party into high gear! Beginning with a rousing Sing-a-Long, the evening becomes a casual New York style Cabaret – bring your favorite party pieces, sign-up for a jump-up – interspersed with musical theatre games including the infamous Diva Tag and Musical Mad Libs. Win prizes, relax and listen to the music, have a drink and meet new people. You’ll leave the Cabaret humming a showtune – a little more musical theatre savvy – hitch-kicking all the way home!

If you are interested in joining us – please complete the form below and we will be in touch when the next auditions occur. chorus|line occurs three to four times per year, for a series of rehearsals and a cabaret night.

chorus|line is generously supported by the Province of British Columbia and the Belfry Theatre, with special thanks to Michael Shamata, Jim Hill, Glynis Leyshon, James Fagan Tait, Darcy Evans, Tracey Moore, Jessica Hickman, Jacques Lemay, Janis Dunning, Clayton Baraniuk and Shane Snow.

Produced by Gotta Getta Gimmick.
