Gotta Getta Gimmick’s Chorus|Line|Cabaret III
A Musical Theatre Party – Featuring William Finn
Monday, February 27, 2012 – Belfry Studio – 8pm
What is this?: A night celebrating Musical Theatre and the folks who love it, hosted by our Resident Professional Diva, Rebecca Hass. All musical theatre, only musical theatre.
From the folks who brought you the Fringe Mob, GGG is back with the third installment of the Chorus/Line Cabaret series – exploring the vast and varied work of musical theatre with some of Victoria’s best singers and performers.
How it works:
Act 1 –We sing you selected music by composer William Finn. Extremely autobiographical, William Finn is a master of scene through song. His most prominent works include March of the Falsettos (1981), Falsettoland (1990), A New Brain… (1998), and Elegies (2003). In his musicals, Finn tackles tough, modern issues including overbearing mothers, gay parents, brain tumors and the AIDS crisis, in an always funny, and always touching style. No, he did not write RENT. Yes, he did write and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (2005).
Act 2 – You sing us what you’ve got. Join in, or listen and toe tap. No Holds Barred – Any Musical Theatre song is fair game. Bring your sheet music, sign up at the door, belt a favorite and win a prize. As always, we bring you the infamous “Diva Tag”, Games, and a big overhead projector for Sing-alongs.
