Chorus|line|cabaret 18 will explore and celebrate the beloved songs of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick “Fritz” Loewe. Lerner and Loewe penned book, lyrics and music for some of Broadway’s biggest Golden Age hits including Brigadoon, Paint Your Wagon, Gigi and of course, My Fair Lady and Camelot. We are excited to take these familiar, classic songs and put a fresh new, contemporary spin on them.

“One day late in August of 1942, I was having lunch in the grill [of the Lambs Club] when a short, well built, tightly strung man with a large head and hands and immensely dark circles under his eyes strode to a few feet from my table and stopped short. His destination was the men’s room and he had gone the wrong way. He turned to get back on the right road and suddenly saw me. I knew who he was … a talented, struggling composer.… He came to my table and sat down.

‘You’re Lerner, aren’t you?’ he asked. I could not deny it.

‘You write Lyrics, don’t you?’ he continued. ‘I try,’ I replied.

‘Well,’ he said, ‘would you like to write with me?’ I immediately said, ‘Yes.’ And we went to work.”
